NENE AND MEDEHAMSTEDE DISTRICT SCOUT COUNCILS
ST. GEORGES DAY PARADE AND SERVICE
SUNDAY 22 APRIL 2012 AT PETERBOROUGH CATHEDRAL
This is your invitation to attend the above event whether you are a Beaver, Cub Scout, Scout, Explorer Scout, Leader or member of the Scout Network or member of a Group, District or County team, helper or parent involved in any way in scouting in Peterborough
Those parading should assemble in Stanley Recreation Ground off Broadway at 1pm
There will be a competition on the theme of ‘Diamond Jubilee’ and a shield will be presented to the best overall Scout Group. For the competition sections are asked to use their imagination and come up with their own ideas. In previous years banners and shields have been used although there are no set rules.
The parade will move off at 1.30pm behind a band and parade down Broadway, Long Causeway into Cathedral Square and then into the Cathedral Precinct for the service
Parents are welcome to enter the Cathedral after the scouts have entered
The service will be about 40 minutes in length.
During the service there will a collection in aid of the Rudolf Fund, a Peterborough based charity that works to “Make Christmas Special for Special Children”.
After the service the parade will re assemble in Cathedral Precincts to meet the Bishop of Peterborough, the Mayor and Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire and other guests prior to parading back to Stanley Recreation Ground for dismissal by 3.30pm.
Notes to Section and Group Scout Leaders

You may wish to inform the scouts and parents of the arrangements, including the collection, by modifying / copying this letter to your members.

It is necessary for each Group’s leaders to read the attached Emergency Procedures provided by the Cathedral.

Each group should be responsible for their own first aid arrangements and carry a first aid kit.
|
|
4.
|
To aid the collection in the Cathedral for the ‘Rudolf Fund’ one envelope per row of seats will provided. It would be helpful to place the money in the envelope in readiness for the collection.

If your Group is not attending the event please inform your District Commissioner asap.
